16 year old Nigerian, Lesley Chimuanya Ugochuwku has signed his first professional contract at French side, Stade Rennes becoming the second youngest pro at the club.
Ugochukwu who was borned in France impressed coaches during his time with Rennes U19 side, starring in the UEFA 19 tourney and was duly rewarded with a pro contract upon expiration of his old contract on July 1, 2020.
He penned a 3-year contract with the French side until June 2023 and is expected to get a boost with the expected departure of Eduardo Camavinga who is being hotly pursued by top sides, including Real Madrid.
Already coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has expressed his interest in the 16 year old who hasn’t been capped by France at any level hence won’t be needing any switch of allegiance process.
The coach believes Ugochukwu could play a part in the future of the Super Eagles particularly if he stamps his authority in the first team of Rennes like Eduardo Camavinga did at same club last season.
