Former England international John Fashanu says Crystal Palace Ebere Eze need to be guided properly on his decision to snub a call to the senior national team of Nigeria.
Eze turned down the chance to represent Nigeria when he was approached around same time when he was called to the U20 team of England. The call up from both nations came two years after he trained with the senior national team of Nigeria in London.
The midfielder hasn’t hidden his desire to play for England at senior level and in a recent interview he inferred that he would have had regrets if he had played for Nigeria after he trained with the team.
Reacting to Eze’s choice Fashanu said the 22 year old need to be told by people around him that he is at the stage of his career where all that want to achieve starts now.
“ He is 22 right? The World Cup is around the corner and he has the option of playing in it for an emerging soccer power house why is he hesitating? I think he need better advisers”, Fashanu told Owngoalnigeria.com
“ Nigeria have several players who are around the age of Eze and he will grow wit them to form a strong team. His marketability will improve with a strong performance at a major international tournament. He need to know this”.
