The vice captain of the senior national team of Nigeria William Troost Ekong has given an explanation on the reason behind his shock move to Watford.

Ekong will later this week sealed a move to the English Championship side from Serie A side Udinese, a move that is not common as he will be moving from the Italian top flight to the English second division.

However the aim of the move according to Ekong is long term and the need for him to fulfill a childhood dream of playing in the English Premier League, after failing to make progress with Tottenham Hotspur where he spent his formative years.

At the age of 27 he sees this move as the first step towards fulfilling his dream with his mind set on gaining promotion with Watford at the end of the season.

He believe Watford will gain promotion and when that time comes around he will be 28 and if he doesn’t join the team now he might never get to play in the English Premier League.

Also staying close to his family played a big role as well but not as much as his desire to play in the English Premier League which he hope will happen in 2021.
