Chidera Ejuke is one of six names in the Super Eagles squad called to the team for the first time ahead of their upcoming engagements in October.
He joins the likes of Matthew Yakubu, Frank Onyeka, Cyriel Dessers , Zaidu Sanusi and Samson Tijani as new players ahead of the friendly games against Tunisia and Côte d’Ivoire on the 9th and 13th of October respectively.
Owngoalnigeria.com senior editor Mohammed Mowiz Suleiman who has tracked the player since his early days in Kaduna gives a comprehensive lowdown on what the 22 year old has to offer the team.
Strength.
He goes past his markers with ease. Many say he tends to over do it at times but it’s his style. Very quick with the ball at his feet, very direct and also physical when it comes to taking tackles. If there is one area defenders hate about him it’s how he loves one on challenge.
Weakness.
Hard to term it a weakness because of how much football has evolved. However he need to add goals to his game. The last time I watched him live in a novelty game in Kaduna he scored twice. Wingers are these days seen as part of the attack of their team so scoring goals should be his major headache and yes can.
Another thing is his inability to whip in crosses. His assist tally has been badly hit by that. He loves to cut into the box and shoot rather than pick a teammate with a pass. That area of his game need adjustments.
Conclusion.
He is a bit like Samuel Chukwueze the way he goes past his opponents although he is right footed. He love to play from the left which makes him more of a strength as he is on his strong foot when he cuts in.
I also think he has that kind of confidence that many talk about in Jadon Sancho. He is very brave and takes lot of risks in the final third. My sincere hope is that he shows all of this when he get to play for the Super Eagles.
