
The Confederation of African Football ( CAF) have agreed to the demand of Nigeria to extend the dates of the zonal elimination tournament which serves as qualifiers for the U17 and U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
WAFU sort for the tournament dates to be extended due to the coronavirus crisis and CAF yield in to their request giving them the go ahead to shift both tournaments to new dates.
The U17 qualification tournament will now hold from the 5th of December to 20th in Benin Republic meaning the newly appointed coach of the Nigerian team Fatai Amoo and his crew have around two months to raise a team.
WAFU also announced that the U20 qualification tournament will now hold from the 14th to 29th of November in Togo leaving coach Ladan Bosso of the Nigerian team a month plus to raise a team.
At the U17 level Nigeria who are the defending champions will be in Pot B as the seeded team while host Benin Republic will be in Pot A as the the seeded team.
Host of the U20 zonal elimination Togo will take the first Pot of A as the seeded team while Nigeria who were third at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations last year will be in Pot B as the seeded team.
