Coach of English Championship side Watford Vladimir Ivić has revealed why Nigeria international defender William Troost Ekong fell out of favor.
Ekong arrived from Udinese and walked straight into the team and won two man of the match award in his first four games at the club as they seek an immediate return to the English Premier League.
That appears like ages ago as the Nigerian hasn’t played in the last three games of the club. His last appearance was the 1-1 draw against QPR on the 21st of November.
Ivic prefers the duo of Craig Cathcart and Christian Kabasele as his first choice pairing in defence and of late Ben Wilmot has been used as cover for both players. He has twice played as substitute with Ekong left on the bench.
The decision according to Watford sources has a lot to do with easing Ekong into the rigors of English football with the games coming in thick and fast.
It is believed that the Nigerian is showing sign of fatigue which affected his performance leaving the coach with no option but to bench him.
