Nigeria international and Heartland goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was at the receiving end of some harsh criticism from fans of Katsina United following his team’s 2-3 loss in Katsina two days ago.
Ezenwa was in goal for the Owerri team against his former side and was beaten thrice as Katsina United started the league on a sound foot with a win.
The shot stopper was booed all through by a small section of the fans who found their way into the stadium as they register their displeasure over the manner which he left the team.
After the game, a journalist who covered the encounter told Owngoalnigeria.comthat he was mocked for his goal in two out of the three goals they conceded.
“ It was funny to see them chant songs of abuse in their normal fashion but this time around, Ezenwa was the target. As their highest earner once upon a time I believe they haven’t gotten over the way he left after a season”, he said.
“ For two out of the three goals he should have done better. The first two goals precisely he was beaten far too easily and they capitalized on that to call him all manner of names after the game. He was seriously mocked”.
