Taiwo Awoniyi has moved up the ladder as Nigeria’s most potent striker in Europe top five league with his goal for Union Berlin in their 2-0 win over Werder Bremen.
The 23 year old who also got the assist for the first goal scorer by Union Berlin now has five goals in 12 Bundesliga game, which is more than any other Nigerian player playing in Europe top five league ( Serie A, Ligue 1, English Premier League , LaLiga, Bundesliga).
Victor Osimhen who is the Super Eagles main striker has two goals for Napoli no thanks to the shoulder injury which has kept him out since November and the Covid 19 infection which has now pegged his comeback by a further two weeks.
Paul Onuachu still holds the title of Nigeria’s highest goal scorer in Europe with 15 goals in 17 games for Genk in the Belgium league but Awoniyi leads the way in the list of top scorers in Europe top five league.
His form has also put him in the frame for a call up to the senior national team of Nigeria, the only team he hasn’t played for Nigeria after working his way up from the U17s to the U23 of the Nigeria national team set up.
