Kevin Akpoguma won’t be a part of the Super Eagles squad for their next Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March following the injury he picked up for Hoffenheim in their 1-3 loss against SC Freiburg.
Akpoguma picked up a muscle and tendon injury 16 minutes into the game and was subsequently replaced with his team losing 0-1.
In his absence they conceded three more goals and the defeat see them drop to 13th on the log after 14 games with the Nigerian international ever present as part of a back three this season.
He has played in all but one of their games this season but they will now be without him for eight weeks per sources close to the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr.
Rohr has already ruled the 25 year old who has four caps for Nigeria out of his squad for the qualifiers in March as he will be returning from injury around when the games will take place hence won’t be fit.
