Nigeria winger Samuel Chukwueze could be set for a spell on the sidelines according to Unai Emery, the coach of La Liga side Villarreal.
Chukwueze was missing from the squad that drew 2-2 with Granada yesterday in the La Liga no thanks to a groin injury which has been troubling the 21 year old for a while.
Emery revealed a decision on how best to approach the injury has not been made by the medical team but there’s every likelihood that he could undergo surgery, which will keep him out for a while.
“ We still have Chukwueze, who has groin discomfort that has been dragging on for a while and we are at a time when the player has stopped. We are studying the decision of whether to stop for him to have a small operation or to continue playing. The rest is OK”, the coach said ahead of the game against Granada.
Meanwhile report in Spain have that the coach has already started work on securing a short term replacement on the right wing where the Nigerian usually plays.
