Manchester City have been told that the buy back clause inserted in the contract that took Kelechi Iheanacho to Leicester City is no longer active, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Iheanacho who is arguably the hottest striker in the English Premier League in 2021 was sold to the Foxes in 2017 with a buy back clause of £50 million inserted into the deal by the Citizens.

The striker took a while to find his feet but after his current run of goals which coincides with City struggling to score goals plus the exit of Sergio Kun Aguero, there has been talks about resigning the 24 year old.

Many pointed to the buy back clause in the initial deal but a source in the player’s camp told Owngoalnigeria.com that by virtue of his new deal, the clause which was contained in the initial deal is no longer tenable.

“ It’s no longer active from the day he signed his new deal and City were duly informed about it. The clause came in his initial deal which has been substituted by another. So that arrangement is gone”, he said.
