The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has written a protest letter to FIFA over the delay in clearing Fulham star Ademola Lookman to play for the senior national team of Nigeria.

Lookman applied to switch allegiance from England to Nigeria in 2019 and till date his request hasn’t been granted hence denying him the chance to play for Nigeria.

NFF are Keen on having the winger who is on loan to Fulham from RB Leipzig eligible for the Super Eagles World Cup qualifiers which starts in June fueled by a request from coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

Rohr sees the 23 year old as one player who will inject pace and directness into the team in the World Cup qualifiers. The idea is to have him cleared before the Super Eagles first World Cup qualifiers against Liberia.

“ Yes we have written to FIFA over the delay. It’s quite unusual because he applied two years ago. Rohr want him in the squad and hopefully he will have him. We are on the case”, an NFF chieftain told Owngoalnigeria.com
