The Ekiti State Referees Council has placed an indefinite ban on two referees from it’s chapter who were found guilty of collecting bribes to fix games.
In a judgement after investigation, the council revealed that the duo of Kayode Onilearo and Omotoye Toyese were culpable of collecting money in different sums to the tune of around 300,000 Naira to fix a game in the recently concluded Nigeria League One (NLO) play off.
They were accused of collecting money from two teams to the tune of 100,000 Naira from Akure City Football Club and another 70,000 Naira in three places from teams.
The duo were instructed to remit the total money collected to the coffers of the council with the aim of the indefinite ban a way of allowing peace to reign in the council, and to serve as a deterrent to others.
Already the board of the NLO has already placed indefinite ban on the duo over the nefarious act but the games which they fixed after collecting the sum wasn’t mentioned by both bodies.
