The Ligue 1 season is over for Nigeria international Samuel Kalu according to coach of Bordeaux Jean-Louis Gasset, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Kalu has been out injured for one month and although he returned to training last week he is still not going to take part in Bordeaux final game of the season against Reims.
Gasset explained that just like Hatem Ben Arfa Kalu who has missed 15 games this season due to injury won’t be risked for the dead rubber die as Bordeaux have achieved their major aim of the season which is beating the drop to Ligue 2.
” Hatem will not be in the group, but just like Samuel Kalu . He had a muscle problem that has not been able to resolve. He still has edema. We are not going to take any risks with them, on a last game where you need 100% players . He hasn’t trained for the week because there is still a little trace of the liquid, like Kalu . He will not be with us”, the coach said.
23 year old Kalu has played 20 games this season for Bordeaux with four goals and one assists to his name. Injury and fitness issues have so far limited him to just 12 games for the senior national team of Nigeria, he has two international goals from the games.
