Former Everton forward Marcus Bent says the club is looking at ways of cashing in on Alex Iwobi as they bid to raise cash to improve other areas of their team.

Iwobi hasn’t quite lived up to the potential that made Everton paid £34 million tp sign him from Arsenal two summers ago. He has so far scored just four goals with four assists in 66 games.

This season he has started very well as he picked an assist in the first game of the season setting up Abdoulaye Doucore for the second goal in the 76th minute of their 3-1 win over Southampton.

According to Bent who spent two years at the club making 55 appearances with seven goals to his name said Everton are keen on moving him on before the end of the summer transfer window.

“Everton are talking about getting rid of him. They want to get him off the wage bill, he’s a good player, but hasn’t had the time to play or show his quality, but I think they want to move him on.”
