OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal that Nigeria international defender Chidozie Awaziem is close to agreeing a deal to rejoin French Ligue 1 side Nantes on a loan deal from Boavista of Portugal.
Awaziem spent the 2017/2018 season on loan from Porto with the Ligue 1 side, he only recently concluded a permanent move to Boavista this summer in what was a record transfer for the club.
Boavista are open to letting the 24 year old leave and have already signed Mexer from their sister club in France Bordeaux in preparation for his exit. They however want an outright transfer and not loan.
We understand fellow Ligue 1 side Lorient have also contacted the management of the defender over a deal but he prefers a move to Nantes. Lorient are however still in talks with Boavista.
A decision is expected before the end of the current transfer window with the defender also keen on settling his future before heading to the camp of the senior national team of Nigeria for the start of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers on Friday.
