The Nigeria U20 team yesterday got their campaign at the WAFU B Championship off to a flying start with a comprehensive 2-0 win over Ghana.
OwnGoalNigeria.com takes a look at the five players who excelled in what was a dominant team performance from the boys of coach Ladan Bosso.
Ibrahim Muhammed – Deservedly won the official man of the match award. Full of running, energy and precision base on how he took this goal. He didn’t stop troubling the defence of Ghana. An early contender for player of the tournament.
Daniel Daga – Drove the team from midfield with ease. Won back possession effortlessly and linked up play with smart and clever passes. Didn’t look out of place and has for sure cemented his spot in the team.
Oluwatosin Adegbite – The captain of the team. Showed good leadership qualities with the way he defended with ease even when under pressure. Willing to put his body on the line and made several blocks to shield the goalkepper.
Mohammed Aminu – Combined really well with Daga in the middle for the Nigerian team. His well timed over the top pass was well weighted for Muhammed to score the first goal. His ability to pick defence splitting passes was very noticeable yesterday.
Ahmed Abdullahi – Known for his goal scoring abilities right from his U17 days with Nigeria where he came on as a substitute and scored a brace in a 2-3 loss to Cote d’Ivoire at the U17 WAFU tournament of 2021. Yesterday he was again introduced as a substitute and he wasted no time in showing his predatory instinct with a solo goal. Certainly one for the future.
