Promotion chasing Spanish second division side Almeria are bracing up for life without their top scorer for the past two seasons Sadiq Umar who is expected to leave the club in the summer.
Almeria have agreed to let the forward leave at the end of the season if a fee in excess of €25 million is lodged for his services even if they gain promotion to the La Liga.
OwnGoalNigeria.com exclusively gathered that the agreement was struck last year when the forward in the face of several options decided to extend to remain at the club to help in their quest to gain promotion to the La Liga.
He has enjoyed a very good season with 17 goals and 11 assists to his name taking his goal contributions to 28 in just 33 games this season. His form has helped Almeria to rise to the top of the league and prime for promotion.
As first reported by this portal, Sevilla were the first team to show interest in signing the lanky forward but it appears Real Betis are now the front runners for his signature per sources close to the player.
While Sevilla see the demands of Almeria as a bit excessive, Real Betis on the other hand are willing to meet up with the deal, and will hold talks with the player’s representative on wages at the end of the season as an agreement is closed to been reached with Almeria
