
As many as eight players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) have been included in the senior national team of Nigeria squad for the upcoming friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador respectively.
The players departed for the United States of America yesterday in the company of other local assistants of new coach Jose Peseiro who will join the team in the United States of America alongside his two assistants.
Goalkepping duo of Ojo Olorunleke and Adewale Adeyinka of Enyimba and Akwa United respectively were joined by Enyimba’s Victor Mbaoma, Rivers United duo of Ishaq Kayode Rafiu and Chiamaka Madu. Bello Babatunde of Akwa United, Buhari Ibrahim and Faisal Sani from Katsina United complete the players picked from the league.
They will be joined by other foreign based players with Peseiro expected to be without as many as six players originally on the list of players he called up for the games, which is meant to give him an idea of how the team will shape up against Sierra Leone in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
