As head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro continues to sound out players born abroad who are eligible to represent Nigeria, a lot of players are keen on hearing from the Portuguese.
Peseiro confirmed he will speak with Atalanta defender Caleb Okoli and this week he was in England for talks with more players of Nigerian descent. His visit to England came a week after the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Austine Eguavoen visited England on the invitation of Tosin Adarabiyio.
The Fulham defender is expected to go straight into the Super Eagles squad for the AFCON qualifiers in March but it appears more players are willing to hear from the coach as regards his plans, owing to the fact that they are eligible for the team.
One of such players is PSV Noni Madueke, who has represented England at various youth levels but still remains eligible for Nigeria at senior level and he hasn’t close the door to representing the senior national team of Nigeria.
” Of course I am focus on playing for England at the moment because Nigeria haven’t ask me to play for them but if they do. I will be open to having a chat about it, I really want to hear from them to be honest”, he said in an interview made available to OwnGoalNigeria.com after scoring twice against AC Milan in a friendly game last week.
