The race for the top scorer award in the Italian Serie A has been reduced to a two way battle between two senior international players of the Nigeria national team in Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman of Napoli and Atalanta respectively.
Osimhen has 13 goals for table toppers Napoli while Lookman is making a huge splash in his first season in Italy with 11 goals. Already Lookman is seen by many as the signing of the season in the league.
He appears to be keen on upstaging his senior international teammate Osimhen for the top scorer award and in an interview with The Athletic, he revealed he will finish ahead of Osimhen.
Asked if they contact each other after scoring, Lookman said that isn’t the case ” “Nah, not when he’s above you, anyway” laughs Lookman. Pressed further on if he thinks he can pip Osimhen to the top scorer award, he said he will.
“I will catch him,” he smiles. “Not I might, I will.”
