The coach of the U20 team of Nigeria Ladan Bosso is the favourite to be the next coach of the U23 team of Nigeria following the sacking of Salisu Yusuf, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Yusuf’s contract as the coach of the Nigeria U23 and CHAN team was terminated after the team’s failure to qualify for their respective tournaments. Bosso who led the Nigeria U20 team to the World Cup in Argentina were they were knocked out by South Korea will likely take the role.
We gathered that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were pleased with the performance of the Bosso led Under-20 team at the World Cup despite the 0-1 loss to South Korea in the quarter final yesterday.
The move by the football house is also borne out of the fact that they believe that the Niger State born coach has discovered couple of players, who are good enough for the next level of international football, which is the U23 and it makes a lot of sense to keep the man who was with them at U20 level as coach.
Bosso is seen by the hierarchy of the NFF as the one who can help the team back into the Olympics and CHAN tournaments after back to back failures to make to both tournaments by the last two coaches of the team.
His team will return to Nigeria tomorrow and an announcement of his new position is expected to be made public before the end of the year. There is also the possibility of moving him up to the senior national team as one of the assistants of Jose Peseiro.
