The statement made by Super Eagles top striker Victor Osimhen on the technical abilities of head coach of the team Jose Peseiro is one that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claim isn’t new to them, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Osimhen while speaking during a radio interview praised the coach, who is presently out of contract and went ahead to say he believe the coach has what it takes to lead them to the Africa Cup of Nations title next year.
“The coach is tactically sound and he is in control of the Super Eagles squad, which is very, very important,” Osimhen told Wazobia FM Radio Lagos. He knows what he wants.”
“We have a great squad to do well, I’m proud of the team. We fight for the team because it’s a privilege to play for Nigeria.
“We expect greatness, we will aim for the trophy”, he concluded.
Reacting to the statement made by the Napoli forward and the effect it will have on the future of the coach, a chieftain of the NFF said it has made their job a little bit easy and also showed that players of the team are on board with the coach.
” There goes the confirmation of what we already have knowledge about. The players have faith in the coach and changing him now might derail the team like we saw when Gernot Rohr was sacked. He will get an extension but I don’t know when. I also can tell you that it won’t be on his present terms and we are hopeful that he will accept”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
