The former first choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Maduka Okoye has sealed a season long loan move to Italian Serie A side Udinese from English Championship side Watford, OwnGoalNigeria.com understands.
Okoye joined Watford last summer from Dutch Sparta Rotterdam in a deal which was a club record for any goalkeeper of the English side. He was signed on the back of two fantastic seasons in the Dutch league.
He however failed to replicate that same form at Watford playing in just two cup games before a shoulder injury brought his season to a permature end. His lack of game time cost him the number one spot of the senior national team of Nigeria.
Germany based Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba broke the news of his loan movs to the Serie A side, which he said is geared towards his quest for regular run of games. The Serie A side is owned by the same company that owns Watford.
Last season Udinese finished 12th in the Serie A with 32 year old goalkeeper Marco Silvestri keeping goal in 35 of the 38 games they played last season. Second choice Danielle Padelli was in goal for the three remaining games, he is 37 years old.
