Former Nigeria U20 forward Jerome Adams Akor has completed a €5m move from Norwegian side Lillestrom to French Ligue 1 side Montpellier, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The 23 year old is presently the top scorer in the Norwegian top division with 15 goals in 15 games , a form that led to interest from a whole lot of teams in Europe but Montpellier won the race for his signing with a better offer.
Furthermore, they were the club that showed him the clearest path to regular run of games to further aid his development. Other teams like Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium, English championship sides Middlesbrough and Leicester City didn’t give him such assurance.
Akor is expected to arrive in France tomorrow after receiving his visa and he will undergo a routine medical, before an official announcement of his signing will be made public. He has already said goodbye to his teammates and coaches.
He was a member of the 2019 Nigeria U20 team to the Under-20 World Cup in Poland led by Paul Aigbogun. They crashed out in the first knock out round with Akor scoring a goal during the group stage.
