Nigeria international forward Victor Osimhen stole the headline once again for Italian Serie A side Napoli with two goals in their 4-0 win over Turkish side Hatayspor, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Osimhen found the back of the net in the 22nd and 27th minute in the pre season game as they continue the build up to the defence of the Serie A title they won last season. It was their first league title in 33 years and Osimhen was pivotal to the win with 26 league goals.
The Nigerian however didn’t have the best of starts to his career in Europe particularly at German side Wolfsburg, the club he joined immediately after excelling at the U17 World Cup, where he led Nigeria to the title by finishing as top scorer.
Giacomo Pertralito who took the forward to Germany explained that the Nigerian has grown into an exceptional forward, a rapid improvement from his days at Wolfsburg where he claimed the Nigerian couldn’t control the ball. He gave credits to former Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti for his improvement.
”Osimhen? We saw in the Champions League that Napoli lose a lot without him, Milan were lucky in those two matches. He is a unique centre-forward, replacing him immediately is not easy. Bayern, from what I know, don’t want to focus on Osimhen but on Tottenham’s Kane. I took Osimhen to Wolfsburg and he didn’t even know how to block a ball. Spalletti did an impressive technical job on him, he played an incredible role in his growth”, he told Radio CRC , during the broadcast of “Si Gonfia La Rete”.
