French Ligue 1 side Nantes yesterday forced English Championship side Hull City to a 1-1 draw in a pre season game as they step up preparation for the new season in France, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The Ligue 1 side were rescued from defeat by their Nigeria international forward Moses Simon, who drew them level with a trademark far post run and finish from the left.
Simon’s future at the club is still uncertain with a year to go on his deal and no talk have been held over an extension, since he rejected the opening offer by the club towards the end of last season.
While his case is uncertain, the club are moving ahead with plans to improve on the squad particularly in defence and their main target is another Nigeria international in Chidozie Awaziem.
Awaziem spent the 2017/2018 season at the club on loan from FC Porto, he left Porto permanently for Boavista two seasons ago. Last season he was on loan at Croatian side Hajduk Split.
He is now back at Boavista but they are willing to let him leave and talks over a permanent move to Nantes for a fee in the region of €6m is progressing nicely. All parties involved are keen on wrapping up the deal next week.
