When Crystal Palace secured a 1-0 win away at Old Trafford against Manchester United, they had as many as three players eligible for the senior national team of Nigeria on the bench, OwnGoalNigeria.comreports.

The players are David Ozoh, ex Nigeria U17 trainee Malcolm Eboiwei and also former U20 invitee Ademola Ola-Adebomi. None of the three got to play but it’s the growth of Ola-Adebomi that has come as a surprise to many.

Ola-Adebomi was in the camp of the U20 team of Nigeria ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations but didn’t make the cut after spending just two days and missing out on test games arranged to test how he will fit into the team. The games were cancelled.

Back at Crystal Palace, the 20 year old hasn’t looked back with three goals already in just six games for the Under-21s this season, Ola-Adebomi – or ‘Mola’ as he is known by coaches and teammates – has caught the eye of Roy Hodgson and his coaching staff, and has been training with the first-team alongside his Academy duties.

Developing into a powerful centre-forward, he was promoted to the Under-21s for the 2022/23 season and scored 10 times in 31 appearances in all competitions – including the winner against Hertha Berlin in Palace’s first ever game in the Premier League International Cup.
