Egyptian top division side Zamalek has confirmed their interest in hiring under fire coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro as their new coach, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
As we reported reports have been circulating in the Egyptian media that the coach is in talks with the Portuguese coach, whose contract with the senior national team of Nigeria will terminate after the AFCON in February unless he gets to the final of the tournament.
An official of the team told Kooora that the coach is among the names shortlisted for the job following their decision to fire head coach Juan Carlo Osorio due to the poor results. The peak of which was their loss to a newly promoted team in the league.
The source said in exclusive statements to the
website on Saturday evening: “Jose Peseiro is among the names already penciled to lead Zamalek. But he does not enjoy any preference. He is just one name among many CVs on the table of the board of directors”, he said.
“The football administration, represented by the board of directors duo, Ahmed Suleiman and Hussein Al-Sayed have not finished working on this file and haven’t settled on a specific name yet, and it is still in the study stage.”
“The Board of Directors supports Motamed Jamal, the interim technical director, and it is possible that he will be present until the suspension period next January, in the event that a foreign technical director is not contracted.” he rounded up saying.
