The provisional list of players who will represent Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations will be submitted to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on the 14th of December, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Head coach Jose Peseiro will be expected to name a 55 man squad which will be trimmed to 27 before the start of the tournament, but only 23 will be eligible for each matchday squad.
We exclusively gathered that Peseiro has already submitted the list to the NFF for a review by the technical department of the NFF and the technical committee, before it will be submitted to CAF in 12 days time.
In the list six goalkeepers were picked, an area where the team is in dire need of options. First choice Francis Uzoho hasn’t covered himself in glory with error prone displays in the past few games.
The coach also took a huge step in addressing the balance of the team in midfield with the inclusion of ten players in that position. Although some players listed in the attack can also function in the middle in his 4-4-2 style of play.
