Former England youth international Ola Aina has aimed a subtle dig at the English national team set up five years after making the switch from England to Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The 27 year old defender played 35 games for England at various youth levels but has since picked up 30 caps for Nigeria at senior level. He is aiming for his second Africa Cup of Nations tournament with the Super Eagles next year in Cote d’Ivoire.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Aina revealed he is eager to play at the tournament which has seen drawn the ire of many top teams in Europe, due to the timing which coincides with what many see as the business end of the season.
“It was good to have qualified. Everyone was happy and excited to be back for the tournament, “Aina told Premier League TV.
“The love I receive from the fans makes me feel good and I’m just happy to play for Nigeria and looking forward to the next one”, he said.
