Legendary football coach Jose Mourinho has given his backing to the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro to go ahead and make history by lifting the Africa Cup of Nations, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Nigeria will today take on the host country Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the tournament looking for their fourth title in the history of the tournament, while their opponent are eyeing a third win.
Speaking ahead of today’s game, Mourinho told the podcast of former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand that he is backing his best friend Peseiro to go all the way and become the first Portuguese coach to win the AFCON.
“My best friend in football is in the final (AFCON). The Nigerian coach he is my best friend. We grew up with me, we studied together. We went to University on the same day, we spent five years together everyday.
We left at the same time, he is probably my best friend in football and for him a big opportunity to make history because never before has a Portuguese coach won the AFCON”, he concluded.
