Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has slammed the door on taking up the vacant managerial position of the senior national team of Algeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Peseiro is the top priority of the Algerian FA as a replacement for sacked coach Djamel Belmadi after leading the Nigerian team to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in ten years.

Algeria will give him a monthly pay of around €280,000 a month, a huge increase on his present salary of $60,000 with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), but it appears he isn’t interested in the offer and prefers to stay in his role as the coach of the Super Eagles.

” He (Peseiro) has been told by some highly placed Nigerians that he has to stay and he is open to it. The reception and also meeting the president of Nigeria who gifted him a house and a national honor also played a role in his desire to stay”, a source close to the coach revealed.

” The idea is to go back to Portugal, spend some time with his family and head out with the team to the United States of America for the friendly game against World Cup winners Argentina in March. As a matter of fact, the list will be prepared by him very soon”, he concluded.
