The duo of Ebere Eze and Michael Olise of English Premier League have identified with their Nigerian roots by donating to the Nigeria Youth FA, a campaign that is geared towards the development of grassroot football in Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Olise currently plays for the U21 of France, while Eze has one senior England cap to his name after making the step up from the U21. Despite that they are both still eligible for Nigeria at senior level owing to their parents who are of Nigerian descent.
Their donation to the cause was made known by the brain behind the initiative David Doherty in a post on all of his social media handle. He thanked the duo for their support and called on other players of the senior national team of Nigeria and those of Nigerian descent to lend a hand as well.
Below is his post.
“Thank you very much, Ebere Eze and Michael Olise, for your kind donation towards Nigerian Youth FA @nigerianyouthfa Gofund.mecampaign towards the development of grassroot football development in Nigeria”,
“We hope this will encourage our Super Eagles players and other Nigerian players out there to join us in helping to put a proper league structure in place for schools and community teams nationwide in Nigeria for boys and girls and to also compete in both national and international competitions.
