The search for the next coach of the senior national team of Nigeria has taken a new dimension following the screening of applicants for the job by the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Nigeria are taken the step to fill the void created by the exit of Jose Peseiro as coach of the Nigerian team following the expiration of his contract in February, two weeks after leading the team to a second place finish at the AFCON.
We gathered that part of what was resolved at today’s meeting is for Finidi George one of the assistants ofJose Peseiro to stay on as one of the coaches, regardless of who they finally pick as the coach.
Emmanuel Amuneke is the most favored Nigerian coach in the race, and we sought to know if Finidi, who was his teammate in the senior national team of Nigeria will be comfortable working with him as one of his assistants if he gets the job.
” Even if we decide to hand the job to Emmanuel Amunike, Finidi will stay because he is crucial to the continuity ahead of the resumption of the world cup qualifiers. They both can work but it depends if Amuneke gets the job”, a member of the committee told OwnGoalNigeriacom.
