The new coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Finidi George has been told to not hold any interaction with the media without approval by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Finidi was appointed as the substantive coach of the senior national team of Nigeria on a one year deal and will get down to work ahead of the world cup qualifiers games in June, where they will be up against South Africa and Benin Republic respectively.

Yesterday the coach was due to speak on a Twitter Space interview with a private media but was stoped by the NFF, who says he didn’t apply for a clearance to speak in an interactive session, saying he will be breaching a session of his contract if he goes ahead with the interactive session.

” In his contract it is stated clearly that media interviews are subject to approval. The same policy was in place with Jose Peseiro and the latter stages of the contract of Gernot Rohr. So it’s not a new thing or because he is indigenous. That has been the policy for a while”, a member of the communication department of the football house explained.

The coach will however be live on the official channel of the NFF in the coming days as he will be expected to defend his list of players called up for the upcoming world cup qualifiers, when it is made public later this month.
