
Manchester United playerd their first pre season game yesterday against Norwegian side Rosenborg as part of preparation for the start of a new season, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The English FA Cup winners were beaten 1-0 by a fitter and more hungrier Rosenborg side who have already played 14 games as against their opponents, who only resumed training last week.
Coach of Manchester United Erik Ten Hag gave first team debut to a host of young players at the club as he made wholesome changes to the team that started the game at the half time break. One of the players who played in the game was Habeeb Ogunneye.
Ogunneye who first came to limelight when he made the senior squad for a league game against Sheffield United in April is a right back, who rose through the ranks of the youth team to the first team. Last season was his first with the U21s of the team.
Yesterday the 18 year old got 45 minutes action and after the game , we picked up an interview where he spoke about his Nigerian roots and eligibility for the senior national team of Nigeria. He has only represented England at U17 level and that came in 2021.
” Not many players have the luxury of picking a country to play for. I have that and when the time is right I will make the best decision for my senior international career”, he was quoted as saying in 2022.
