Chelsea are in talks with Napoli over a swap deal for Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen and their Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku according to various sources.
The move which is said to be advancing between both parties owing to the desires of the players involved to move in the opposite direction is expected to reach a conclusion, before the 7th of August.
While Chelsea are demanding a loan deal with an option to buy, Napoli want it to be an obligation to buy in the event that the Blues make it to the UEFA Champions League next season. A truce hasn’t been reached on what will happen after the loan, hence the logjam in the move.
However fans and the hierarchy of Chelsea, who have been crying for a striker should be wary of a part of the game of the Nigerian which drew the ire of one of the most celebrated managers in the history of the team In Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho whom managed Chelsea in two different spells warned the striker over his antics during a league game for Napoli, when Mourinho was in charge of Roma. The quotes has been making rounds since news of talks over the deal hit the airwaves.
He said: “He (Osimhen) is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive. If Victor changes, then OK. I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money.
“However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change because, in Italy, they put up with this sort of behaviour, whereas in the Premier League, they’d come down hard on him.”
