France based coach Nassim Mendil says the coach of PSG Luis Enrique doesn’t want the club to sign Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli despite reports of talks between both clubs, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Osimhen is said to prefer a move to PSG over the loan proposal from Chelsea that went viral yesterday. Some reports say personal terms have been agreed but both clubs are yet to settle for a transfer fee, with the French side refusing to pay his release clause of €120m.
The impasse has led to a breakdown in the talks and it has left Osimhen hanging as he desperately waits for his future to be resolved. Already coach of Napoli have kept him out of his team’s pre season tactical drills and test games.
Speaking in an interview to Radio Goal via Kiss Kiss Napoli Nassim said the reluctance of the coach is why PSG have gone cold on the deal as the coach has a lost which Osimhen isn’t his preferred choice for the role of top striker.
He said the situation has led to a standoff between the coach and the hierarchy of the club, who are long time admirers of the 25 year old, and see him as a perfect replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
“I am in France and here they are talking about a negotiation between Napoli and PSG for Osimhen, but the figures would not exceed 80 million”, he said.
”Here they say that Luis Enrique does not want Osimhen, he has power in the market and in my opinion it will be difficult for the Nigerian to go to Paris. Luis Enrique has a say in the matter and after Mbappè’s departure they gave him some power over the purchase of players and Osimhen is not his first choice”.
