The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Musa Gusau says all terms have been agreed for a new coach for the senior national team of Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Super Eagles have been without a coach since the departure of Finidi George as coach following a poor performance in the world cup qualifiers games against South Africa and Benin Republic, where they were beaten by the latter 2-1 after a 1-1 draw at home against the former.
In a communique made public the NFF said they will be contracting an expatriate coach for the role and it seems an agreement has been found for who will be the new coach.
Gusau in Nantes, France told Sports Village Square that the NFF Technical Committee has already short-listed three coaches of which one of them have been picked to lead the team.
Like we reported the three shortlisted coaches are Eric Chelle formerly of the Malian national team, Tom Saintfeit who is currently the head coach of the Philippines and Steve McClaren an assistant to the coach of Manchester United Erik Ten Hag.
A source at the NFF said the coach has already started work by submitting a list of players who will execute the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic in Uyo on the 2nd of September.
He said clubs of the players who are in the preliminary list have been notified by the NFF with the coach expected to prune down the number to a sizeable amount of 25 upon his resumption in a few days time.
