Barring a last minute change of mind 46 year old Malian coach Eric Chelle will be named as the new coach of the senior national team of Nigeria before the end of this week , OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Chelle is favoured to get the job ahead of Belgian Tom Saintfeit and English man Steve McClaren who recently picked up the vacant job of the coach of the national team of Jamaica.
Nigeria will hand the former coach of Mali a short term deal which will cover the period of the qualification for the AFCON. The deal will be a result oriented meaning the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) can terminate the contract if the team’s performance dwindles.
According to France based Nigerian journalist Babatunde Ojora, the coach will meet with the minister for sports in Nigeria senator John Enoh in Paris for the ironing out of contractual details. Already the president of the NFF Ibrahim Musa Gusau is in France.
The meeting will also have in n attendance representative of the France based coach, who will be tasked with getting the Super Eagles back on track after the disappointment of the last world cup qualifiers games, where they were beaten by Benin Republic after drawing 1-1 at home against South Africa.
