
French Ligue 1 side Lens have confirmed the signing of 20 year old Nigerian midfielder Hamzat Ojediran from Hungarian side Debrecen, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
A member of the Nigeria U17 team to the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Brazil and the subsequent U20 team of Ladan Bosso last year, although he didn’t make the team to the world cup.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of Hamzat Ojediran for the next four seasons. A revelation in the Hungarian championship in 2023/24, Hamzat is a true force of nature. An explosive and athletic midfielder, he is an aggressive ball-winner in the good sense of the word”, Pierre DrĂ©ossi the of the club told the club’s official website.
“His determination and commitment on the pitch correspond exactly to what is expected of an RC Lens player. The recruitment of Hamzat is part of the club’s policy of also focusing on emerging players with interesting potential. Welcome Hamzat”.
Lens finished 7th last season in Ligue 1 and see the hard tackling Nigerian as one of the players who will help bolster their squad ahead of the start of next season after extensively scouting him last season.
He is signed on a deal that will run till the summer of 2028 according to the statement confirming his announcement of his official website of the club.
