Back in 2015 after winning the best player at the U17 World Cup, Nwakali was signed by Arsenal but left the club three years ago after failing to make the grades. He spent two years at Spanish side Huesca before his contract was terminated in 2021 over indiscipline.

He returned late from international duty with Nigeria at the AFCON. He moved to Portuguese side Chavez last season and was fined by the club after was pictured using his phone on the substitute bench after he was subbed off during the game that sealed their relegation.
