Italian Serie A side Atalanta are not happy with the crew of the senior national team of Nigeria on the usage of star forward Ademola Lookman in both of their games in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Lookman scored a brace for Nigeria to hand them a 3-0 win over Benin Republic, a game which he lasted the entire duration and also players until the final three minutes of their 0-0 draw away to Rwanda.
The fact that he has played both games hasn’t gone down well with his team , who are unhappy that he played that long in both games despite nursing a shoulder injury, which almost ruled him out of both games.
He played both games with a protective cast on his shoulder as he is not fully healed from a small pain around that part of his body, which made him miss their last game before resuming in camp for the Super Eagles games.
Their unhappiness is that there was a high likelihood of the 26 year old aggravating the injury by playing him longer in the game. A situation which according to reports in Italy really angered the technical and medical crew of the Italian side.
