The international future of Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo is still very much in the balance despite meeting with the interim coach of the senior national team of Nigeria on switching allegiance to the senior national team of Nigeria from England, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Tosin is eligible for Nigeria through his parents but has represented England the country of his birth at various youth levels, the last of which came nearly five years ago.
Now a fully established defender in the English Premier League, the 26 year old who is presently down the pecking order in the England senior team for selection was presented with an opportunity to play for Nigeria, when he met with Eguavoen last season while he was still at fellow English Premier League side Fulham.
We gathered that the meeting went smoothly with Tosin’s agent who happens to be his brother Gbolahan also present. However a decision on playing for Nigeria hasn’t been made yet contrary to widespread reports.
However the defender took the first step by acquiring a Nigerian passport, bringing hopes that a decision to play for Nigeria might be on the horizon, although he has frequently voiced his preference will be to play for England at senior level.
