Former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says his team will pick the second available ticket from their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers group with Nigeria currently leading the pack, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Rohr’s team are currently second in the group, one point behind Nigeria, who have a game at hand following the decision of CAF to suspend their game against Libya after they were left unattended to for over 18 hours at the airport.
Smarting from his team’s loss 1-2 loss to Rwanda, their second in the series, the coach played down the impact the defeat could have on the chances of his team going through insisting that they will finish in second spot behind Nigeria, the team they will be hosting next in the series when it resumes in November.
The coach is looking beyond the fixture with his former side and has his sights on the game away against Libya as the game for them to seal their spot in the qualifiers, with Nigeria hosting Rwanda the same day.
“The positive points is that in the direct confrontation, it’s still Benin who is ahead. We have our destiny in our hands and I think we will finish second in their group. We are convinced that we can do it”, he said.
