Tammy Abraham says the former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr was keen on having him play for the senior national team of Nigeria ahead of England, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

In 2017, Tammy famously denied an official publication from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announcing that he has agreed to switch nationality to Nigeria. He has since then made 11 senior appearances for England with three goals.

Speaking on his international career with his last cap coming two years ago, and the fact that he hasn’t been able to nail down a spot in the attack of the team , the 27 year old says he feel satisfied that he is living his dream and still has hope that he will be back in the set up soon.

On if he would have been an established star at international level if he had pitched his tent with Nigeria, the forward said although Nigeria wanted him but playing for England is a source of pride and joy for him.

” Yes the former coach and the football head who is a family friend wanted me to play for Nigeria. I don’t think that is an issue anymore because playing for England fills me with pride and joy”.
