Former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says he was expecting CAF to place a ban on Libya from hosting games at their home ground after the poor treatment that the Super Eagles of Nigeria suffered upon arrival for their AFCON qualifiers game last month, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

CAF awarded three points and three goals to Nigeria for the botched AFCON qualifiers game last month after the team were left stranded at the airport without food, water or internet for 16 hours upon arrival for the reverse tie of their 1-0 win in Uyo.

In addition they were fined $50,000, but Rohr said he was expecting a stadium ban that will see them complete the rest of the qualifiers at a neutral ground. He made this known ahead of tomorrow’s AFCON qualifiers which his team need a draw at the home of Libya to seal a spot in the tournament.

“We are already focused on this last match which will obviously be very hot. We thought perhaps that after what happened with Nigeria, they (the Libyans) would have had a suspension from the field to play like us on neutral ground. It was not the decision of the CAF. I only hope that we will have a refereeing as correct as today”
