Head coach of Italian Serie A side Lazio Marco Baroni says Nigeria international midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will start against Napoli on Sunday, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Dele-Bashiru has been struggling to get regular run of games since his loan move to the team in the summer from Turkish side Hatayspor, however series of injuries to players playing in his position has opened the door for him.
He has started their last two games in all competitions including yesterday’s 3-1 win over league leaders Napoli in the Coppa Italia, and he is now prime to start against them again on Sunday in the league according to Baroni.
“Dele plays in Naples, today he played a good game and in Naples he will have to do very well, because it will be much harder”, he said after yesterday’s Coppa Italia win.
The coach also explained that the slow start the 23 year old is facing at the club is normal as he tries to get used to the system and style of the team , which he says usually requires time. “Dele is also growing, he’s catapulted into a difficult and complicated style of football. In our football, players who took 1-2 years to get going have struggled.”
