The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be taking part in a four team invitational tournament in England alongside Ghana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago like we exclusively reported two weeks ago.

Billed to take place at the end of the season, the tournament will help the new coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle time to assess some new players, and also work on building the core of his team ahead of the resumption of the games in the world cup qualifiers in September.

Chelle started his tenure with a resounding 2-0 win away to Rwanda before suffering a late minute heartbreak against Zimbabwe with a late equalizer bringing the scores to 1-1 at the Super Eagles home ground in Uyo.

Ahead of the games, the coach has pencilled down new players that he will like to have a good look at as he begins the process of rebuilding the team for the task of making it to the world cup 2026 , after a poor start under two previous coaches in Jose Peseiro and Finidi George respectively.

Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu is top of the list, and was supposed to be in the mix for the world cup qualifiers last month, but after talks with Peseiro the decision was made to have him in subsequent games.

Comfortable as a left or right full back , one area where the manager is looking for more options, the 25 year old has played in 15 German Bundesliga games this season and has three goals.

He initially snubbed Nigeria for Germany U21 when he was first approached by former coach Gernot Rohr, but he has since made a u-turn citing his openness to a call and representing Nigeria.
